WENNINK is the project of Oliver Wennink and Matt Allaby – who’ve been causing quite a stir with their fragile electronica in recent months – and we’ve got the video premiere of the duo’s techno-infused, ‘Broken Bits And Pieces’.
Wennink handles the track’s vocals whilst production duties are done by Allaby, Wennink met Allaby whilst working at Brixton studios, where the pair shared a mutual love of hazy electronica in the vein of Four Tet, Thom Yorke and Antony and the Johnsons.
Whilst the release’s a-side, ‘Dissolve’, showcases the duo’s tender fragility, the release’s b-side – which we’re premiering – is at the complete opposite end of the musical spectrum.
Ostensibly, ‘Broken Bits And Pieces’ is a techno-infused slab of electronica that twists and turns in all the right places, only stopping to catch its breathe when Wennink’s lonesome vocals punctuate the brisk acid-y synths. The track is accompanied by a suitably out-there video that features bold geometric shapes criss-crossing the screen, and has been directed by Jonny Sanders.
‘Dissolve’ which includes ‘Broken Bits And Pieces’ is out now.
