Arnaud Rebotini’s ability to switch from industrial disco to distress acid house, and still remain relevant, is the Frenchman’s raison d’etre, his last single, ‘The Girl From Bayou’, managed to channel everything from swamp blues to disco, without ever sounding trite or forced.
His latest remix sees Rebotini back where he belongs, in front of his analog equipment, as he remixes New York bank Ike Yard. Rebotini’s remix of ‘Cherish 8’ builds over the course of six minutes, layering synths, feedback and percussion over a thudding kick, letting the track develop at its own pace.
With a new EP under his own name due soon on Autokratz’s Bad Life, and, of course, the long awaited new Black Strobe album scheduled for later this year, Rebotini shows no signs of slowing down.
