French wonder-kid Yuksek is back with another killer remix, this time it’s for Tel Aviv electro pop duo The Young Professionals and their track ‘Disco’ which was released last summer, and famously contained a sample of Ottawan’s 80′s anthem D.I.S.C.O.

Yuksek scrapes away the cheese, adds some driving drums, drenches the vocal in reverb as he builds to an impending theatrical crescendo – eventually you get there and all hell breaks loose.

And if you haven’t done so already check out his remix for De La Soul side project First Serve.

Hip hop trio De La Soul will be releasing a new album soon, but before that they’re working on a new side project called First Serve.

Check out the a remix of ‘Must Be The Music’ by French electro don Yuksek – who has managed to fused pap (I mean rap) and electro.

Amazingly Yuksek’s new album ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ hasn’t been released in the America yet. Well, this travesty is being righted with an impending release through Ultra Records on February 14.

We thought it was one of the best albums of last year, and if you haven’t heard it, and are from across the pond, be sure to pick it up.

Well, we’ve already had the amazing Peter & The Magician remix of Yuksek’s new single ‘Always On The Run,’ now it’s time for remixers du jour Villa to have a stab.

First of all, there remix is not a club bangOr like the Peter & Magician version, but is a lovely tranquil disco version. They take the vocals in a completely different direction.

It might well be less in your face, but it’s beautifully layered with chic belgium violins, exquisite piano work and psychedelic disco pops and clicks. It’s languid, slower and dubbed-out making it more of a connoisseurs choice.

For us this is the perfect tonic for a grey Monday afternoon whereas the The Peter & Magician remix would be perfect for Friday night peak-time shenanigans. But it’s two sides of the same disco coin, if you will.

The single is out now in France and other European countries, the rest of the world will have to wait. We know it’s a crime. But great things come to those who wait.

Today is a special day. It’s the day we post what we think is the best remix we’ve heard this year. It comes from Peter & The Magician, which is the new callaboration between Yuksek and The Magician – they originally came together earlier this year to produce one of our favourite EP’s ‘Twist’ – now they’re back with a fist-pumpingly amazing disco remix of Yuksek’s second single ‘Alway’s on the run’ from his new album ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’.

Now we’re struggling to come up with enough superlatives to describe it, but we’re going to have a good go. It starts as it should; a clever synth hook and Vandroid-esque clunking drums. Then you get the vocal, an anthemic chant from the French wiz-kid. Throughout the track it’s building to the inveitiable 3.30 break. And it’s so worth the wait. The vocals, synth-hook and electro groove all come together to make a remix that is going to be a fixture of many mixtapes and sets over the next few months.

There’s been some talk about a possible Peter & The Magician album. We think off the back of this remix this needs to happen, and happen soon. For the sake of electronic music as a whole.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Yuksek remix. This isn’t a surprise as he’s probably been concentrating on his new album. This ends today as the French maverick has done a splendid remix for Noah & The Whale’s ‘Life Is Life’ – it’s superb, and better still you can grab it for free.

We reviewed the amazing Yuksek’s album yesterday, and to celebrate the fact the album is in stores in France and the UK release of the ‘On A Train’ EP today we’ve been given permission to give away the 320 Gucci Vump Dub remix for free.

Gucci Vump is is the moniker of Brodinski and Guillaume from The Shoes, and they’ve turned ‘On A Train’ into a proper dancefloor rumbler. If you’re going to hear ‘On A Train’ in a club it will be this remix or the amazing Magician remix.

For his second album French electro producer Yuksek was inspired by the lonely days of touring around the world on his own, and this has translated into a new direction for the producer. ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ is a long play that shows off a more mature side to Pierre-Alexandre Busson. Gone are the coarse electro synths, the pounding drums, but what has replaced them is in many ways is just as good. A collection of unabashed, jubilant pop tunes; introspective and uplifting at the same time.

The album oozes warm synths, cushion-soft percussion and proper vocals. ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ is the total opposite ‘Away From The Sea,’ no longer do over-the-top electro synths take over the songs, but they compliment the tracks. The focus of ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ are the stunning vocals. You’re not going to hear classic vocals like ‘My Bear You Can Eat Bear’. It’s full of proper songs, proper structures and proper vocals.

In a similar way that ‘Away From Sea’ references everything that is amazing about pop music; the energy, the catchy pop hooks. His new long play does the same but for indie music. It’s a logical step for him to take, a massive risk – but he has nailed it.

Now normally we wouldn’t really like an album that strays too far from what we would expect from one of France’s most exciting electro producers. But this is Yuksek. He has to be respected.

From the opening salvos of ‘Always On The Run,’ ‘Say A Word’ and ‘Off The Wall’ you know that this is going to the complete opposite of ‘Away From The Sea’ – it’s full of organic sounds, disco claps and really electrifying vocals. It’s proper music, with a really likeable organic DNA running right through.

The quality of production from Yuksek is sublime, there’s nothing other word for it, this is especially apparent in tracks like ‘White Key’s’ and where subtle complimentary synths and choir vocals combine to make a stadium-rousing track that takes Yuksek out of the club and into the stadium.

The album marries the best of electronic and the traditional warmth of organic music to make an album that cements him in the upper echelons of electronica – don’t be surprised if top acts start knocking at his door asking him to produce their albums.

There are proper moments of empathy and melancholy through the album and this very apparent with ‘Off The Wall’. It’s done so well you can’t help but fall in love with it. This album has the capacity to be the soundtrack of a summer for us – it just connects you to the artist and the music in a way that is going to really work well for this year’s festivals and the world tour.

For many this new direction might won’t be everyone’s cup of tea especially if you’re looking for some electro bangers. You will not find any of those in here. It’s music, not drug music, it should be treated like a fine wine not cocaine – it will compliment your day, not try and take it over. We personally think it’s very cool and classy. Yuksek has taken a risk, but with his amount of talent there was only going to be one outcome – music that sound effortless cool and sophisticated – one for the purists of this world.

The album climaxes with ‘The Edge’ and ‘Fireworks’ which see a little bit of the old Yuksek to come play, it’s not banger territory but they raise the tempo and make for a superb climax to a stunning second album.

Yuksek’s latest album was never going to suffer that cliché of a ‘difficult second album’ he has too much skill and ability to run out of ideas on where he wants to take his sound. But when you add the best of the last album and his new tracks into a new show, with two new members to bring the new material to life, you’ve got something that can complete with the best in the world. The next 12 months of touring are going to be something truly special and probably a lot less lonely than the last.

Yuksek has been banging out the French electro remixes over the last 12 months and before that he released his amazing debut album ‘Away From The Sea’ – so it is not surprising that sound has got a bit boring for him.

His latest long-play goes in a completely different direction. ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ see’s the young french producer take on a sound that is more akin to an indie band. The songs are sung and produced by him, but importantly will be played live as trio with two new members.

The reason behind this according to the man himself was because of the boredom of endless touring, mainly on his own, around the world for last 12 months, which left him lonely and wanting to share his experiences in the future.

So, he made an album to be played as a group. It’s a total departure from what were used to. For some you won’t like it one bit, for others who have probably never heard of him will love it.

We’ve only heard what you are about to hear so can’t pass judgement – there’s just not enough to go on, but were eager to hear more.

Peter & The Magician’s track ‘Twist’ is just the beginning, The Yuksek and Magician collaboration have a couple more choice nuggets of synth-pop up their sleeve.

They will release their ‘Twist’ EP with 2 new tracks, and the Magician, Stephen Fasano, has been kind enough to upload a mini mix of the entire thing. Amazing.

The first track on the mix is ‘La Fiorentina,’ an italo love song, then we have our favourite ‘Love in Rimini’ and to finish the amazing ‘Twist’.

Brodinski has just uploaded a new track to his soundcloud and it’s with his partner in crime Yuksek, now this is not The Krays, it is new direction for the two, a moody atmospheric techno track, not a million miles away from the forrest techno of Trentemoller.

It’s certainly a grower, and is an instrumental, so don’t surprised if Yuksek has laid down some much needed vocals.

Yuksek’s album is dropping in the first week of June and we’ve come across a new track on soundcloud, called ‘Alway’s On The Run’ it’s a unique blend of indie and disco with Mr Yuksek doing a fine job on the vocals.

Yuksek’s new EP ‘On A Train’ dropped today in France and few other places, unfortunately it won’t reach our shores until May 29th which is a travesty, the thought of new Yuksek be available and not be able to listen to it is not cool.

But all is not lost as Mr Yuksek has uploaded the entire thing to preview on his Soundcloud, which has softened the blow some what.

First up, we have the opening and title track ‘On A Train’ the first thing that comes in your mind is this sounds like a band and not an individual, especially not one who is normally associated with French electro. But the track is very impressive, a combination of indie, with just a smidge of electro.

‘Dead or Alive’ continues the indie vocal aesthetic, it is a million miles away from the material on ‘Away From The Sea’ and for many that will be unforgivable, but we think this new direction is more accessible and a refreshing change. It’s more organic, sophisticated and a lot more easy to listen to.

Next up, is ‘Mister Dangerous’ which firmly sets itself up in the land of dance with, swirling synths, big drops, and slightly disappointingly though is it is a bit of a crib of his Vandroid remix from last year. But if it’s dance music you wanted, this is the go-to track.

The rest of the EP is made up of remixes, first of all is the Gucci Vump remix, which is Brodinski and The Shoes. A tech-house number which we really like, it’s a little sedate, but it captures the original perfectly, expect this to do very well in club land.

Next up we have the gem that is the Magician remix, in little over a week it has been played over 45,000 times on The Magician soundcloud and is everything you want it to be and more if you love nu-disco. Pyschedelic synths, piano’s and disco beats.

And to finish we have the ALB cover, not sure who ALB are, but their cover is beautiful and mesmerising.

Yuksek has quite clearly wanted to show the world that he can be a proper singer-song-writer, and this is evident throughout the EP, it’s not what we were really expecting, but it’s so well made and expertly sung – who could possibly be disappointed? A artist on the form of his life, and one who shows that he has the diversity and ability to be even bigger that he already is now.

Well, well. The Magician may well have done the finest nu-disco remix of the year so far, and it comes in the shape of his remix for Yuksek’s new single ‘On A Train’.

This is just sublime. Plump bass, sweet piano breakdown, a fully intact vocal and amazing percussion all combine to make a sublime remix. Great work Mr Magician.

Very nice remix of Yuksek’s new single ‘On A Train’ by Gucci Vump. Not sure who, what or they are, but they’ve done a sweet remix, distortive four on the floor beats, should satisfy anyone who isn’t feeling the original.

Over the last couple of months, we were getting emails from the dudes over at Konbini, who make some of the finest web tv around, if you have been paying attention they also did the amazing Ed Banger seven mini documentary.

Well to our shame we ignored them to our peril, (mainly due to the terrible name) Mega Mystery Band, only to find out today that are favourite french producer Yuksek is behind it.

What we don’t know is in what capacity. Is it a band that he is producing? Or is it his latest single with a guest vocalist? Which has already been touted as Kele from the bloc.

There is some guff on the Youtube video “We are everywhere and nowhere at the same time, we are every artists, we are no one, we believe that music is stronger than fame. We want you to enjoy our music and maybe try to discover who is behind the Mega Mystery Band… Have fun!”.

We are putting our money on this is the first single from Yuksek’s new album, with ‘On A Train’ being the new single, and the album is made up of a load of collaborations. The rumour that his new album would have no vocals and would be dark esoteric electronic music was just a way of throwing people off.

It would explain why Yuksek was in Liverpool of all places to finish his new album. Why Liverpool? Unless he was there to record someone.

We have to say thanks to Last Gas Station who seem to have direct-line into all of this mystery, they have even told us that the single is out May 2nd with remixes from the Magician and Gucci Vump.

This as you can imagine is the most exciting news of the week. Watch the mock-umentary and fall in love with ‘On A Train’, it’s a piece of electro-pop that just captivates you from start to finish. Were already in love.

So, when we heard Peter & The Magician’s, aka Yuksek and Stephen Fasano’s , new track ‘Twist’ we knew almost immediately that we had heard it already.

We asked you lot to try and jog our memory, and that’s what you’ve gone and done, it was actually used in Yuksek’s amazing Triple J radio mix he did at the tail end of last year, well we’ve done a bit of surgery, added a robot voice and now you can have sneak-peak – it get its proper release soon on the new Kitsune Compilation.

We’ll be reviewing the new compilation soon, and we’ve also got Yuksek’s first single from his new album coming soon too, it’s called ‘On A Train’ which were really excited about. 2011 could well be the year of Yuksek.

Peter & The Magician by Mr HBF

Yuksek looks like he’s ready to make a comeback, not that he ever left, he is without a doubt one of the hardest working producers out there, throughout 2010 he had numerous amazing remixes and now he is back with two new tasty treats.

First up we have his collaboration with The Magician, who was once of Aeroplane fame, the new collab is called Peter & The Magician and they have a new track ‘Twist’ coming out in May which is on the new Ktisune compilation.

When we fired it up, we thought we’ve heard this already, probably in someone’s mixtape, if someone could tell us which one the would be amazing, possibly Villa ?

And Yuksek also announced today the first single of his next album, the new single is called ‘On A Train,’ and it’s meant to be out real soon.

Playground have announced their Easter party and it even makes us jealous that’s it’s not in Mancester. It’s a proper belter, with Yuksek and Brodinski performing their Krays tag team, Ed Bangers’ Uffie, James Yuill, Huoratron and plenty more.

If you like you french eletro this is a must, and you never know Yuksek might even play some of his new eoseteric material from his new album that is meant to out soon-ish. The party is taking place at Koko on April 23.
