For nearly two decades, the Chemical Brothers “mind-blowing” audiovisual live show has been played to packed houses and festivals across the globe. But it has never been documented on film or ever released on a CD.

The Live CD is special in electronic circles. For us, it started with Vitalic, then Daft Punk and finally with Justice – and it only seems fitting that the Chemical Brothers are the next act to try and bottle their live performance and, ultimately, do the live show justice.

In 2011, at the iconic Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, The Chemical Brothers played a headline set in front of 50,000 fans which was captured on 21 cameras. Immersing you in the thick of a frenetic crowd, ‘Don’t Think’ captures this synaesthetic barrage of sound, film and light and the transforming effect it has on its audience.

Last Friday night The Chemical Brothers: Don’t Think, directed by Adam Smith, was released to 600 cinemas in 30 countries across the globe.

Apparently, London saw scenes of crowd surfing as some cinema screens were shut down by overzealous security men due to the reaction of the fans. For those of you who missed out,  you’ll be able to sample some of this magic with the release of the Blu-Ray/CD & DVD/CD which is set for release 26th March 2012.

The return of the fantastically flamboyant Arnuad Rebotini was a real highlight last year – he produced one of our favourite albums Rafale’s ‘Obsessions‘  - and his own album was a brain-melting brilliant return to pounding acid house Manchester is famed for.

There’s just no-one making music quite like him – one regret we do have was not getting a chance to see his full hardware live show. Well, if you’re brave enough – you can like his Facebook page and get a full 75-minute recording of one of his Live shows recorded in France.

The Warehouse Project turned into a bit of soap-opera this weekend as techNo DJ Jeff Mills declared that he wouldn’t be playing on Saturday. Rather than telling WHP, and the promoters, he took to Facebook to explain his no show and it was due to a disagreement with a third party booking agent who had been accused of racism.

Now, there’s no suggestion that this had anything to do WHP in any way. But, regardless of Mills’ reasons he behaved in a very unprofessional manner and rather than tell the promoter he explained his reasons in a public forum and felt the wrath of hundreds of unhappy fans. However, like any great musical institution the show must go on and it did with the live performance of Nile Rodgers & Chic.

Chic’s influence on Pop music cannot be underestimated, headed up by Nile Rodgers their musical career has seen them pioneer the birth of disco, funk and soul right throught to the birth of hip hop and then subsequently been sampled by hundreds of modern day artists, they’re a form of pop genesis. A starting point for almost all popular music.

The band took to the stage at 12 to perform some of their biggest hits – ‘Le Freak’, ‘Good Times’, ‘Everybody Dance’ – as well as other rarities and chugging jams, which sent a few thousand dedicated disco ravers dancing. Within a couple of minutes of Chic’s set no one was even bothered by Mills and his no-show hissy-fit.

Chic rolled through an amazing variety of tracks both from the Chic back catalogue and Nile’s own production treasure trove. The crowd were treated to Chic covers of Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’, which he made 27 years ago – according to Rodgers – although Nile gracefully declared he didn’t feel that old, Sister Sledges ‘We Are Family’ and Sugarhill Gang’s ‘Rapper Delight’, which of course famously sampled the ‘Good Times’ bassline and has now gone on to hip hop folk law.

The Chic organisation and Nile saved the best to last with ‘Le Freak’ where they invited a special guest on stage and it was none other than Johnny Marr from the Smiths to play out the final song of the set. While we’d concede the Warehouse Project might not be the best live venue. But, Chic was easily the best performance we’ve seen over the years at Store Street; a marquee moment for the organisation. It rose above the usual bland house and techno and achieved something far greater and left everyone thinking Jeff Who ?

Hybrid have done a new mix for the Australian dance music radio show Triple J. It has new Hybrid goodies in the shape of Hybrid’s ‘Blind Side’ the Hybrid sound system dub and Eelke Klein’s ‘The lone Ranger’ Hybrid sound system remix.

The band is playing Sound Control in Manchester on Saturday – be there or be square.

On June 4 The Playground will play host to a night of performances from some of the freshest and most exciting producers out there right now. Acts include Eskmo, Dels and Kwes to name but a few, all performing for a London audience at this exciting exclusive event.

Headlining act Eskmo will perform the UK debut of his live A/V show after a roaring success of the show in San Francisco earlier this year. With the release of his latest material ‘We Got More’ ‘Moving Glowstream’ Remix EP on May 16^th, Eskmo will be giving his audience a taster of what can be expected from his exciting new material.

Main support at this event comes in the form of Dels, recently signed to Big Dada. This new young MC is tipped for stardom. With his latest track produced by Hot-Chip’s Joe Goddard, and his industry mates including the likes of Ghostpoet, Dels is drawing from a variety of genres and influences to produce his very own finely tuned style of gritty British Hip Hop. He offers a fresh sound sure to keep crowds excited late into the night at the Village Underground event.

Mighty Mouse announced today that they’re doing their own show at London’s XOYO on Friday 15 April and will be showcasing their Live band for the first time  - with their secret third member. Hence the picture of three mice and not two.

Mighty Mouse will perform live, along side other special guests including Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1), Dan Beaumont (Disco Bloodbath), Blamma! Blamma!, Cosmonauts, Tronik Youth, Bxentric. And a few other cheeky surprises.

They also giving away a free track, ‘Smiling Faces’ which features a vocal Undisputed Truth – a famous Motown track. It’s a shuffling, melodic piece of sunshine disco – it must really be warm and cosey in the mouse cave.

After the ridiculous leak gate (you know who you are) it’s nice to get some real music and it’s from man of the moment Etienne De Crecy, called ‘Welcome’ it’s out on 8th of Feb.

Etienne De Crecy is about wow audiences in Manchester, Leeds and London in the next few days with his Cubes & Beats.

Etienne De Crecy is set to bring his magnificent Cube light show back to the UK after amazing crowds around the world inclduing Global Gathering in 2008 and last year at Matter.

The show puts De Crecy in the middle of nine light-up cubes – think naughts and crosses but on a much bigger scale.

He is bringing it to Koko in Camden, London and  support comes from Dirty Vegas and Joe & Will Ask.
