The Penelopes are one of a handful of male-led pop duos that we think don’t sound like they just crawled out the Simon Cowells rear-end.

The Parisian duo, now based in London, are planning to release the follow-up to their first album ‘The Arrogance Of Simplicity’, which was release on Vitalic’s label no less. So far we had the immense ‘Now Now Now’ which caught our ear with the C90′s remix. Well today, we’ve got their next single and its been remixed by Leeds disco don Edwin Van Cleef.

‘Sally In The Galaxy’ is a full-fat piece of fun-time pop with big, catchy chorus’ and incredibly charming production. Edwin Van Cleef decides to take the original in a slightly different direction by adding a 90′s euro dance glaze over the top of the French pop sensibilities – it’s more muddy field that chic disco. But we like it.

‘Sally In The Galaxy’ is available on iTunes from March 19 with remixes from Edwin Van Cleef, Manhattan Clique and The Flight (who produce the single).

French wonder-kid Yuksek is back with another killer remix, this time it’s for Tel Aviv electro pop duo The Young Professionals and their track ‘Disco’ which was released last summer, and famously contained a sample of Ottawan’s 80′s anthem D.I.S.C.O.

Yuksek scrapes away the cheese, adds some driving drums, drenches the vocal in reverb as he builds to an impending theatrical crescendo – eventually you get there and all hell breaks loose.

While we wait for Danger’s debut album, which might see the light of day soon, we’ll point you in the direction of a new remix of DigiKid84′s ‘Continium’ by Bestrack.

This remix sounds a lot like Danger – but not just a cheesy ripoff – it’s like a tug-of-war between the sounds of Skrilly and Danger – with neither winning. It’s one-part theatrical electro, one-part dumb-step and two-parts drum and bass. No one wins the tug-of-war except Parisian Bestrack & Digikid84.

More disco delights are heading are way from new label Smile Recordings. After the release of their EP ‘Tribal Dance’ through Relish Recordings, Montevideo are back with a stunning follow up single ‘Horses’ recorded at the ‘DFA’ studios in New York.

They are currently recording their follow up album, which will be released sometime in 2012. The brussels-based band have enlisted Joakim Bouaziz, who has had releases under his producer name Joakim on his own imprint Tigersushi as well as remixes for artists such as Air, Tiga, Dj Mehdi, Metronomy, Royksopp amongst others, to produce the album.

Esoteric electro duo Logo made a remix for Django Django’s ‘Default’ unfortunately they missed the deadline and the remix never made it to our speakers – well they’re giving it away to first 100 people who manage to snag it. Ready. Set. Go.

This will be the second remix we’ve brought you of Foxes new track ‘Youth’ and yet again it’s a talented young Frenchman who remixes this compelling new female talent.

He doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but does make a stellar straight-up electro track out of the rousing vocals. Each time we hear something new from Pyramid he shows us he’s always improving – whether he can keep it up remains to be seen, but it’s going to be fun finding out.

Hip hop trio De La Soul will be releasing a new album soon, but before that they’re working on a new side project called First Serve.

Check out the a remix of ‘Must Be The Music’ by French electro don Yuksek – who has managed to fused pap (I mean rap) and electro.

There haven’t been many decent remixes to come out of Justice’s controversial new direction – a lot of fans seem to be raving about Erol’s remix – but for us it’s mediocre at best.

Young Parisian up-start Monsieur Adi has decided he wants to give it ago – from all accounts he’s always wanted to remix his French idols, but has been waiting for the right song. Well, the melancholic ‘Ohio’ seems like it would be perfect fodder for Adi to flex his melodious muscles.

He fleshes out the remix by using the main vocal line and adds some rapturous choirs sounds, guitar solos and the results are impressive considering what he had to work with.

Amazingly Yuksek’s new album ‘Living Life On The Edge Of Time’ hasn’t been released in the America yet. Well, this travesty is being righted with an impending release through Ultra Records on February 14.

We thought it was one of the best albums of last year, and if you haven’t heard it, and are from across the pond, be sure to pick it up.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say there seems to be hundreds of remixes of Tyson’s ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ floating around the internet.

For us, every time a new one comes along – it diminishes the impact of the song and Tyson himself – this is the definitive one for us – please no more.

The single ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ will be released on February 20 and features remixes from Round, Table Knights, Joakim, Stubborn Heart, Mickey, Kidnap Kid. His album will drop on the same day via Backyard Recordings.

Mason will be releasing his new EP ‘Superimposer’ in March, which is taken from his new album ‘Mason presents: Animal Language Refurbished’. The single is the usual fair of electro & house that, in all honesty, is a little stale for us, but we really liked the quirkiness of Arveene & Misk’s remix.

One of the most exciting prospects from 2011 was the evil techno merchant Gesaffelstein, not only is he making some of the most up-front dance music around, he’s got one the most unpronounceable production names ever. Better still we have it on good authority his real name is the rather boring Mike.

One of the leading lights of spacious house and disco has been New York’s Morgan Geist. Ever since he dropped ‘Miura’ all those year’s ago he’s been held in such high regard.

Well, he’s making a return with the new alias Storm Queen and a new EP ‘Look Right Through’. Defected have dropped a few previews of the remixes and seemingly not much has changed; powerful house ballads with rich vocals with simple, yet, punchy percussion.

It’s coming out via Defected in February and deserves suitably amazing remix package, so step forward Jamie Jones, Dimitri From Paris and Aeroplane to give the original the ability to cross over into all spheres of dance music.

Jamie Jones, fresh from being voted RA’s number 1 DJ of 2011, turns in a stripped out re-work, focused around a heavy bassline vibe and some killer snare rolls. Dimitri From Paris’ Erodiscomix takes things on an old school Chicago house tip, with a twist of disco keys thrown in for good measure. Rounding things off the always superb Aeroplane delivers a driving Nu-House remix with a knowing nod to Kraftwerk.

Ed Banger Records have uploaded the full version of Erol Alkan’s remix of Justice’s next single ‘Canon’. From the early reaction everyone loves it, but for us it just sounds like two tracks poorly tacked together – more a mashup, than a remix – but it’s irrelevant what we think anyway.

Disco-lullably merchant Shook does it again, but this time is for unknown (to us) Jodie Marie. Let’s hope Shook leaves some of his creativity for his own album, which we’re promised will be sometime in 2012. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.

French eletro-pop duo Jupiter announced their new album will be out this year, they are planning some new remixes, a single, then the debut album.

If this remix of Blackjoy’s ‘Mercurian’ is anything to go by – you should be keeping an ear out for Jupiter during 2012.

Lana Del Rey will be releasing her debut album at the end of the month and if the hype is to be believed it’s going to sell shed-loads. Up until the release you’ll be showered with numerous remixes – we’ve even give you two – and here’s another to add to the never-ending pile.

21-year-old British producer, Lil Silva has remixed ‘Born To  Die’, taking it into unchartered leftfield territory. The final result can be heard below. It doesn’t do much to show off her vocal talents, but has a lovely ethereal charm to it.

‘Born To Die the single is released on January 23, with the album, of the same name, being released a week later on January 30.

Foxes is the alias of Southhampton-born Louisa Rose Allen, she’s another ones of these 20-something singer songwriters; impossibly pretty, amazing voice and the ability to write swashbuckling leftfield pop songs at the drop of a hat, she’s about to release her debut EP via Neon Golds Records on 7-inch vinyl Jan 16 and digitally January 29.

Now, what’s the best way to introduce a new singer to the world’s hipsters? Well, get a Frenchman. Who the most exciting of the Frenchies at the moment? Easy. Monsieur Adi.

Adi knows what he’s doing when it comes to remixing vocals, he’s a go-to-guy. As expected he keeps the vocal intact, he takes inspiration from the originals marching band aesthetic and runs with this theme for a 7-minute call to arms of rousing drums, synths and Allen’s vocal talents. Epic doesn’t really convey the energy and positivity of this track.

All she needs to do now is pout a lot in her press shots and she’ll be the next big thing.

The Rapture’s new single is out this week, and comes with an emotionally charged remix from Aeroplane – for many, us included – this is one of the finest remixes he’s ever curated.

Vito uses the songs greatest asset: the vocal. To create a 8-minute long piece of disco emotion. He taps into the latent synth line on the original to let all its emotions pour out from the speakers to mesmerising effect. Simply stunning.
