Creamfields is the only decent dance music festival left in the UK, Global Gathering is gradually fading into nonexistence leaving Cream and it’s lovely rolling fields to take the limelight – we for one much prefer it – only really because it’s less than 10 miles away from HBF Towers.

Ever since Cream abandoned Liverpool for the rolling hills of Cheshire and Lord Daresbury’s estate it has been steadily becoming the biggest and best dance music festival. Factor in that it’s two days, and it doesn’t start on a friday unlike Global – it’s the one. No doubt about it.

They annouced the line-up on Radio 1 last week and it’s looking like 2011 is going to be the best yet.

Good ol’ Gonzo, if we didn’t have his superb album Ivory Tower, we would not have got three amazing remixes for his latest single ‘You Can Dance’ – so far we’ve had Gemini Club, Cosmonaut Grechko and now we’ve got Canadian producer Robotaki.

Radio 1 & 1Xtra will be hosting a live weekend of shows from Newcastle on the 4th-6th March featuring loads of new and live music from several venues across the city.

N-dubz star Dappy has apologised after sending death threats to a Radio 1 listener after she called the show to say he was a “looser” and “repulsive”.

Chloe Moody texted into the Chris Moyles show to express her dislike to the band and Dappy when they were being interviewed by Chris Moyles.

The next day she received a message from the rapper Dappy saying: “Your Gonna Die”.

Dappy real name Dino Contostavlos (or shall we call him Dummy ?) took down Ms Moody’s number without the producers’ knowledge and begun to send threatening message to her.

Ms Moody was shocked to find out that the messages were coming from Dummy, after he then sent another message saying: “U sent a very bad msg towards Ndubz on The Chris Moyels Show yesterday Morning and for that reason u will never be left alone!!! If u say sorry I will leave you alone.”

Ms Moody then started to receive phone calls from Dummy, she eventually answered his call and faced further insults.

“He was just ranting, saying ‘why are you saying this about me?’. If I had had a number one single and got a message from a nobody to a radio station I would not be too concerned. It obviously hit a nerve.”

What a prize idiot – ironically Dummy joined Schools Secretary Ed Balls to launch a Government campaign against “cyber-bullying” over mobile phones and the internet. (you can’t help but laugh.)

As a result of the incident, N-Dubz have been dropped as ambassadors of anti-bullying charity Beatbullying.

In a statement, Dappy – real name Dino Contostavlos – said: “I called her in the heat of the moment when I was angry, but that is no excuse for my behaviour.

“I’m genuinely sorry. I’d also like to send my sincerest apologies to Radio 1.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “He must have taken the number down from the production team’s text console in the studio.

“We were unaware of this, but will take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

From the sound of her debut EP, Ninja Tune’s latest signing Emika is someone we’ll be listening to and talking about a lot next year.

The EP’s title track, ‘Drop The Other’, sounds like a squeaky clean R&B track that’s been taken out on a heavy night and then left alone in a strange town to find its way home at 4am. In the rain. It’s catchy and definitely has pop in its heart, but it also sounds damaged and subdued.

Glitchy piano flicks in and out of frame, drums skitter along underneath and Emika’s soft, effortless-sounding vocals drift quietly over the top of it all. It’s not out til January, but Ninja Tune are already giving away a Scuba remix of ‘Drop The Other’, which holds the essence of the original but gives it a bit more kick. Emika describes herself as “making pop, but with a hard edge, playing different sounds and intensities against each other. I try to stay on the fence, leaving from for the listener to create a sense of what its about. It’s all about tension for me.”
