Kavinsky has just teased a new track from his debut album which is expected to be released sometime this year. It has everything we love about French electro all bundled into three minutes of joy: theatrical synths, big keys, crisp drums, and, most importantly, presence.

Another fine night of french electro goodness from the peeps over at Playground as they host as 80′s electro cartoon character Kavinsky at XOYO, and he’s also decided to bring Ed Banger’s art department Feadz along for some London shenanigans too.

You can expect to see Hey Today!, My Tiger Timing, Tiger Love, Arveene & Misk, Rubicks and plenty more.

If your not familiar with Kavinsky then you might want to check the video below, it promises to be an amazing night of electronic goodness.

So the world is going Ed Banger crazy, and this is because Justice and SebastiAn both had tracks out today, Justice with their rock/electro anthem ‘Civilization’ and Kavinsky’s remix of SebastiAn’s debut single ‘Embody’.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Paranoiak, the label that looks after an exciting crop of new aritsts, from Star Guitar to Irish Steph – and today they pointed us in the direction of the ever decisive DECIDE.

He’s not  actually part of Parnoiak, but is a friend of the label – we know nothing about him, his bio is in french – so we’re waiting to hear back from him but he is giving away 8 tracks and the mystery allows us to judge him without any preconceptions.

As far as we can tell DECIDE is more of a funk-orientated electro artist – with seamless melodies and clean percussion throughout – never too overbearing, but always exciting and an easy listen. Just enough bang for your buck.

First of we have their remix of Midnight Juggernauts – warm melodies with creamy bass combine to make a nice remix. With a profound edge throughout.

Kavinksy died in 1986, after he crashed his prized Testarossa off a cliff and died upon impact, or did he? Fast-forward to 2005 and a resurrection occurred, a Zombie-like Kavinksy came back to life, with this new Zombie blood rushing through his un-dead body he went straight to the studio to see how this possession would make music – fast-forward to 2010 and he produced a electro zombie-gem that was NightCall – produced by one half of Daft Punk and mixed-down by SebastiAn, this more aggressive darker side of Kavinsky had struck gold. Check out the Dustin N’Guyen remix below – just so happens to be Justice’s Xavier De Rosnay. And one of our favourite tracks.

On the other side was “Pacific Coast Highway” a homage to the very road the Kavinsky lost control of his car, the moment of madness that changed him forever.

In late 2010, Kavinksy decided to run a remix competition for his track “Nightcall” – a few months later he had to choose a couple out of the 533 entries that had been submitted. Kavinsky’s favourite was by SAWAGii, a heavy metal version of the original, whilst the Record Makers team were blown away by the version put forward by Robotaki, an 18 year old prodigy from Montreal.

And to celebrate the completion of this epic remix contest we have been given permission to give away the two winners as a aperitif to his new album which is meant to be out March 2010. And to top that we’ve also got Ed Banger’s lord of the funk Breakbot’s remix to giveaway as well.

Overwhelmed by the stunning response to the remix contest for Kavinsky’s Nightcall, Record Makers have decided to take things one step further and allow graphic designers and illustrators to contribute their interpretations of Kavinsky’s zombie universe.

Kavinsky is currently putting the finishing touches to his album, due to see the light in 2011. The visuals hold as much weight as the music, an aesthetic commitment that has been in place since he announced his arrival, back from the dead, with Testarossa Autodrive. The Kavinsky Fan Art contest will run from November 1st to December 31st. 50 illustrations will be chosen from the entrants and included in a limited edition book. The winning design will take pride of place on the front cover. The first 20 illustrations will get a copy of the book, and every winning illustrator will receive music digitally.

Ren Riz is ready to unload another remix and we really like the new one he has done for Discosau, not sure who they are. But this track oozes 80′s nostalgia, for that we love it.

We loved it and reminded us of the early Rex the Dog production. Enough said.

Kavinksy is about to drop his follow-up EP to the cult classic “1986″, not only is it great song – it has been produced by one half of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo.

On top of that the song was mixed down by Sebastian, and there are remixes from Breakbot and Dustin N Guyen (which is apparently Xavier de Rosnay from Justice.) Kavinksy has certainly managed to court every talented Frenchman in Paris to help.

In 1984, two major events occurred that shaped Parisian electro producer Vincent Belorgey’s (Kavinsky’s) life: in America, Miami Vice made its television premiere, and in France, nine-year-old Belorgey (aka Kavinsky) quit taking piano lessons for good. These two historical incidents intersect in the Frenchman’s songs, which sound like a musical stab at remaking Jan Hammer’s synthetic score for the fabled Florida-based cop show.

Filled with moody atmospheres, fluttering rhythms, and saccharine arpeggios, Kavinsky tracks like “Wayfarer” and “Testarossa Autodrive” soundtrack a stylish drug bust in his mind’s eye, vividly evoking an era when moustaches and aviators made a man.

While he’s long-time friends Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr. Oizo) and Jackson Fourgeaud (of Jackson and his Computer Band), the 32-year-old Belorgey took up music just three years ago, when Dupieux offered him an old Apple computer he no longer needed.

Since then, Kavinsky has become one of the hottest artists in the French scene, linking the electroclash era’s ’80s obsessions with the buzzing sonics and scruffy fashion sense of rock-influenced acts like Justice. Like those Parisian artists, Kavinsky seems more interested in having a good time than in being taken seriously, hence the kitschy tunes, farcical back story, and cheesy album covers.
