Hoaxx are a electro duo from London, and if you’ve been a long-term reader of HBF you might remember they were one of the first unknown acts we threw our support behind. Well, its been over 12 months since they’ve released an original piece music, sure, they’ve been busy remixing and touring, but this particular production hiatus ends today with ‘Love Track’ featuring Dee Scott.

Over the last 12 months, electro and disco has collided and ‘Love Track’ reflects this sea-change. It’s got all the power and energy that we’d associate with 2007 electro; big French electro synths, white noise and big kicks. But the Hoaxx boy’s have cleverly balanced it with a catchy pop vocal, lashings of disco violins and a funky piano riff.

Their generosity doesn’t stop there, they’ve assembled a stellar collection of remixes, which further adds to the song’s impact. There’s quite literally something for everyone, you’ve got deep, thudding house remix from Ryan Riot, who catches the vocal in a sweet loop and then layers and layers it with basslines, synths and percussion. There’s the obligatory nod to the dubstep lovers out there, and, actually, we don’t mind the Mr Wonk’s Green Mask effort, he goes a formulaic Feed Me-style aesthetic, opposed to the more dumb-step style of Skrilly.

For those of you who prefer their electronic music a little more highbrow and less obvious – there’s a great left-field, stripped back re-rub from Lab Creation – we’d call it percussive drums and bass if we were forced to pigeonhole, but in a French guise. Eby Le Beatz’s remix takes the vocal and runs with it to make a piece of theatrical electro – it’s full of folksy hooks a la MGMT, and after a couple of listens you’ll be totally convinced, the clever panning of some of the synth basslines are particularly brilliant. For us, it’s probably the dark horse of the bunch. To finish you’ve got another electro house remix, this time its from Dee Scott, who employs a less is more approach, thankfully it provides a decent counter to the noisey win that has come before it. More fab 2006 electro goodness from the Hoaxx boys as they remixed Defuncts! ‘We Are The Party’ Feat. A Girl A Boy. It comes out next week and it bangs. But in a good way.

Cue a big intro, banging beats, trashy looped, side-chained synths and bass. It wins. Proper 2006 fodder.

The Hoaxx boy’s seem to be having a good 2011 so far and their latest remix see’s their star rise even further – it’s electro, but not as we know it.

They have done is a fine job with EbyLeBeatz’s ‘Ready To Rock. One dude said on SD “Hoaxx make the best bombs” as soon as you fire up the preview you know. And the dude from Soundcloud is so right.  Out the end of June.

To celebrate their first birthday, Hoaxx are giving away a free remix of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry Eyed’. They have had a great 2010 so far with bangin’ tracks like ‘Plastic Circus‘ & ‘Cadillac’ which are great, and their dirty indie dance tracks are regularly featuring in Beatport’s indie dance charts.

And their latest track doesn’t disappoint in anyway with new female singer-songwriter of the moment Ellie Goulding, getting the remix treatment. Funky synths and a great vocal make this one of their best tracks and suggests their future is looking very good.

They have also managed to find time to complete a remix for Butch Blues Foundation, which is out this month on Dandy Kids records.

We took 5 minutes out of out not very busy schedule to ask some questions to our new favourites ‘Hooaxx’.

The fantastic Hoaxx are about to release their next EP called cadillac and you can hear it right here.

Hoaxx are certainly going to have a bright future if they continue to produce music of this quality – 505 drums mashed with glitchy vocals to produce a track even Justice would be proud of. Amazing.

Cadillac Arcade by Hoaxx

If your not familiar with Hoaxx then you soon will be – they are a live electro duo consisting of Jonny Pathan and James Tarrat that are causing quite a stir with their take on glitchy indie dance music.

Their mini-mix has been on repeat ever since they sent it across (admittedly that was only 20 minutes ago) but it’s fantastic –  glitchy pop-hooks layered with fidget rock-synths to great effect.

With a top 25 beatport hit already under their belts and a world tour planned they certainly have lofty ambitions. They have a new EP called cadillac which is out 4th January 2010.

Having said that their sound is like “early morning roadworks chained around 505 drums” there’s a whiff of Justice – which is all good.
