The Warehouse Project’s final run at Store Street finally got its first full weekend under its belt with a genre-busting night of electronic music on Friday with Annie Mac Presents.

Early on we were treated to a chugging full-body house workout from the 2 Bears, where the two burly men from London warmed up the crowd with some really good house music.

Next up was L-Vis 1990 who is one of the most exciting young DJs in the UK, his bass heavy set took in elements of garage, electro, UK funky, dubstep, techno and many other sounds and he brought his a-game with a live dubstep PA performance with The Neon Dreams.

Annie Mac and Ms Dynamite were on hand to raise the roof of Store Street and Annie couldn’t get enough of the atmosphere as she did a little bit of crowd surfing for Jack Beats and even played a unannounced set at the after party at Afterlife until the wee-hours.

To finish the night Jack Beats unleashed a cacophony of electro, techno, house and other odds and sods for their set. Jack Beats represent part of the new wave of British house music. Wobbly basslines, big breakdowns and edgy accapella’s are cut, copied and pasted together to create a floor-filling brand of house. To finish they unleashed a bootleg of Beattles ‘All you need is love’ to send the happy punters off on an air of early morning optimism.

Well, it will be all kicking off again this weekend with Lord of the Trance Armin Van Buuren who will no doubt have the Store Street crowd reaching for the lasers with his sold out show on Friday and then there’s a full-on house session with James Zabiela, Nic Fanciulli and Derrick May on Saturday.

SebastiAn’s new album ‘Total’ is dropping very soon, and his latest track premiered on Annie Mac’s show last night, and it’s another curve ball from the Seb, not the usual banger, but another funk-induced 2-step Prince homage – we love it and think his album is going to even better than we originally thought. We’ll be getting a copy any day now and were counting down the days.

Annie Mac unvelied the latest snippet from Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy soundtrack on her friday night show, the new track aptly called “Tron Legacy” is thought to be ending credits song from the film and is the best track we’ve heard so far – and by some way.

Annie played it four times during her show, we think she quite likes it, and what’s not to like – a truly epic electronic orchestral work out, with just a mere suggestion of DP sprinkled throughout. December can’t come soon enough.

Breakbot has breathed new life into Ed Banger Records recently, his ability to blend old-school funk, disco and hip-hop has made him one this years breakthrough artists.

He has just made his Mini-mix for the Annie Mac show and it’s pretty frickin’ good. Listen out for tracks from MJ, Midnight Star, Grandmaster Flash and Luther Vandros.

Radio 1 & 1Xtra will be hosting a live weekend of shows from Newcastle on the 4th-6th March featuring loads of new and live music from several venues across the city.

Featuring live performances from many of 2010′s top artists including; Delphic, The Japanese Popstars, Will Atkinson, Alex Kidd, Alex Metirc and many more.

If you can’t wait until September for your fix of The Warehouse Project, then fear not, they have just announced that the Project will return over Easter with four massive parties planned.

Running from April 1st-4th it’s full of massive names and will be the only weekend prior to the main September – December run.

Kicking off on Thursday will be 2Many djs and Annie Mac, Friday will be Drum & Bass via Hospitality including Roni Size and High Contrast, Carl Cox will be making his WHP debut alongside Eric Prydz on Saturday, and ending the weekend will be Dubfire and the Cocoon crew.

Delphic have reached yet another milestone by having their Mini Mix on Annie Mac’s show last week.

The eclectic mini mix is now keeping some very impressive company from Grand Master flash to Rex the dog.

And the boys from Manchester don’t disappoint – it’s a well-produced snapshot of their style of eclectic dance music – it’s well worth a listen.

Delphic will be supporting Orbital at the Manchester Academy this weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 7pm.
