For nearly two decades, the Chemical Brothers “mind-blowing” audiovisual live show has been played to packed houses and festivals across the globe. But it has never been documented on film or ever released on a CD.

The Live CD is special in electronic circles. For us, it started with Vitalic, then Daft Punk and finally with Justice – and it only seems fitting that the Chemical Brothers are the next act to try and bottle their live performance and, ultimately, do the live show justice.

In 2011, at the iconic Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, The Chemical Brothers played a headline set in front of 50,000 fans which was captured on 21 cameras. Immersing you in the thick of a frenetic crowd, ‘Don’t Think’ captures this synaesthetic barrage of sound, film and light and the transforming effect it has on its audience.

Last Friday night The Chemical Brothers: Don’t Think, directed by Adam Smith, was released to 600 cinemas in 30 countries across the globe.

Apparently, London saw scenes of crowd surfing as some cinema screens were shut down by overzealous security men due to the reaction of the fans. For those of you who missed out,  you’ll be able to sample some of this magic with the release of the Blu-Ray/CD & DVD/CD which is set for release 26th March 2012.

Last night Nile Rodgers revealed in a online interview that he was going to be meeting Daft Punk to discuss their 4th studio album, with the two electronic pioneers wanting to experiment with R&B and funk for their next album.

Now, if this turns out to be true then it would probably be the most important music news of 2012 – and from what Nile has posted on his blog today it would appear to be true as he is meeting our two favourite robots in New York today.

Nile said on his blog: “Today I’m going to spend some time with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo better known as Daft Punk.

“We’ve briefly met before when they were doing some sort of listening party in NYC back in the 90′s. The scene was chaotic and we didn’t really have a chance to have an artistic connection, except they did tell me that they were sorry about my former partner Bernard Edward’s death. And they dug CHIC. The feeling is mutual.

“When I first heard “Da Funk” I thought it was one of the grooviest records I’d heard in a long time. The song “One More Time” came out when I was on a trip to Paris and I visited Virgin records.

This will be the second remix we’ve brought you of Foxes new track ‘Youth’ and yet again it’s a talented young Frenchman who remixes this compelling new female talent.

He doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but does make a stellar straight-up electro track out of the rousing vocals. Each time we hear something new from Pyramid he shows us he’s always improving – whether he can keep it up remains to be seen, but it’s going to be fun finding out.

From early impressions the vocal just doesn’t do it for us, it’s just a bit bland and boring – maybe it will grow on us – or we’ll start a campaign to have the tracks as dubs (probably the latter).

Air will release their 6th studio album in two weeks and it’s the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Love 2′. The album takes its inspiration from the classic 1902 silent film “Le Voyage Dans La Lune” (A Trip To The Moon)” by Georges Méliès, which has been fully restored and is currently being shown at film festivals around the world to great acclaim.

For this new version of the film, AIR were asked to compose an original score, which in turn grew into a full scale album project.

While we wait for that. Germany producer Theatre Of Delays has done a rather splendid remix of their seminal hit ‘Sexy Boy’.

Hip hop trio De La Soul will be releasing a new album soon, but before that they’re working on a new side project called First Serve.

Check out the a remix of ‘Must Be The Music’ by French electro don Yuksek – who has managed to fused pap (I mean rap) and electro.

The co-founder of Def Jam records and the current head of Columbia records, Rick Rubin, asked Ed Banger if he could remix the new Justice single.

Busy P, a massive fan of Rubin’s work with the Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, obviously said yes to this honour.

He has remixed Justice’s new single ‘On N On’ – and done a sterling job. It’s the usual stripped back style we’d expect from Rubin.

Rubin is kind of a big deal. Dr Dre once said about the producer: “hands down, the dopest producer ever that anyone would ever want to be, ever.”

‘On ‘N’ On’ EP is out January 30 with remixes from Brodinski, Erol Alkan, Rick Rubin, Tiga and Video Village.

One of our regrets from last year was not getting around to reviewing Fabian’s debut album – if you haven’t heard it – it shows why so many people are excited by this young LA producer.

‘Say Goodbye’ was well received by many last year, but, he’s not one to rest on past success as he’s already making new tracks.

He’s always been someone who’s influenced by many genres, but we weren’t expecting this. ‘I Do’ is easily the hardest, most club orientated, track we’ve heard him do – but, we’re just not sure someone so talented should be pursuing this bottom of the barrel style. It’s not that it’s bad, but, its been done a million times.

Kris Menace will finally release his debut album in 2012, and today we’ve got sample of the first release ‘Falling Star’ – it’s the usual impeccable production from Menace, but, for us, it’s just a tad boring.

There are plenty of producers making progressive house, and doing it very successfully, but, ‘Falling Star’ doesn’t really get us excited.

We’ve not doubt that the his debut album ‘Electric Horizon’ will be fantastic, but, let’s hope it’s a bit more exciting than ‘Falling Star’.

The Penelope’s have already caught our ear with their ridiculously catchy ‘Now Now Now’. Well, now they’re taking it to the next level of catchiness (uber-catchy?) with their next single ‘Sally In The Galaxy’ (possibly the best name for a track ever).

It’s going to be out in March and will have a remix from Edwin Van Cleef.

La Belle have another stellar EP prepped for their 6th release next month – if you haven’t been following – they’re a new Parisian label who are releasing one EP a month.

We’ve already had the likes of SoapOpera, Breakfast, Infamous Lovers, Talk About It and Swans and we can now we can add Rodion & Khan to the list. The Berlin-based ex-Captain Comatose member is bringing a selection of weird and wonderful tracks, where he does unspeakable things to disco and house to further mans understanding of dark melodic electronic music.

The EP manifests itself as the exploration between funky French disco and German deep house – this tug of war is played out between the darkness of ‘Let’s Motor’ and the contrasting a-side of ‘Discotecha Romana’ feat. Andrea.

There haven’t been many decent remixes to come out of Justice’s controversial new direction – a lot of fans seem to be raving about Erol’s remix – but for us it’s mediocre at best.

Young Parisian up-start Monsieur Adi has decided he wants to give it ago – from all accounts he’s always wanted to remix his French idols, but has been waiting for the right song. Well, the melancholic ‘Ohio’ seems like it would be perfect fodder for Adi to flex his melodious muscles.

He fleshes out the remix by using the main vocal line and adds some rapturous choirs sounds, guitar solos and the results are impressive considering what he had to work with.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say there seems to be hundreds of remixes of Tyson’s ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ floating around the internet.

For us, every time a new one comes along – it diminishes the impact of the song and Tyson himself – this is the definitive one for us – please no more.

The single ‘Die On The Dancefloor’ will be released on February 20 and features remixes from Round, Table Knights, Joakim, Stubborn Heart, Mickey, Kidnap Kid. His album will drop on the same day via Backyard Recordings.

Bastions of the weird and wonderful: Warp Records. Are to release a new album from Clark, who is Chris Clark, the PR info is a bit vague, but as far as were aware he’s one of these forward-thinking multi-instrumentalists – with whack-fork stating: “Clark’s compositions come across like the inner whirlings of a beautifully disturbed mind”.

I’m not sure we’d go as far as saying that, but it’s pretty cool in a Eerie Indiana kind of way – check out the video and head to the youtube page for a free download.

Pair of Arrows make music, other than that we’ve no idea who they are. It’s not because we’re lazy, it’s difficult when a musician submits music with nothing more than a sentence saying “download our free track”.

Whether it’s because they want to remain anonymous or just aren’t that interesting remains unclear, but, their latest freebie is pretty cool, in a drugged-out, emo, slow-mo, left-field pop kind of a way.

Mason will be releasing his new EP ‘Superimposer’ in March, which is taken from his new album ‘Mason presents: Animal Language Refurbished’. The single is the usual fair of electro & house that, in all honesty, is a little stale for us, but we really liked the quirkiness of Arveene & Misk’s remix.

Legendary dance duo Orbital are making a welcomed return to dance music in April with their first album for 8 years.

Called ‘Wonky’ it will be the 8th album from the duo and you can get a sample of what’s to come by listening to ‘Never’ below, which from early impressions shows the enigmatic duo might have finally mellowed a bit.

It’s going to be released April 1st and features collaborations with Zola Jesus and the hotly tipped UK rapper Lady Leshurr (so not bothered).

Wonky was recorded in Orbital’s Brighton home base, then mixed in London with internationally acclaimed producer Mark “Flood” Ellis, whose stellar list of previous collaborators includes PJ Harvey, U2 and Nine Inch Nails.

Following the album’s release Orbital will head out on a tour of the UK, finishing off at The Royal Albert Hall on the 10th.
