Hello Games’ eagerly anticipated procedurally generated space exploration game No Man’s Sky hits shops in just a few short days – and today the makers of the game’s soundtrack 65daysofstatic have shared the game’s expansive soundtrack.

To whet your appetite the electro math rock band from the UK has uploaded the 10-track soundtrack to Youtube. Just over 45 minutes in length it offers a glimpse of the atmosphere and depth that Hello Games is trying to deliver.

If you’re unfamiliar with No Many’s Sky, the game is an ambitious space exploration game set in a virtual universe – including the stars, planets, lifeforms, ecosystems, and the behaviour of the space-bound factions – which is all created through procedural generation using deterministic algorithms and random number generators.

A single seed number is used to create these features via mathematical computation thus eliminating the need to create each of these features by hand. This enables the game to have a massively open nature: Hello Games has estimated that with their 64-bit seed number, their virtual universe includes over 18 quintillion planets
