Soulwax share track from their forthcoming soundtrack for rowdy Belgian film, Belgica

Instead of a new Soulwax album – which lets be honest we’ve been waiting for quite a while – Belgian electro-rockers Soulwax are making their long-overdue return with a film soundtrack.

Soulwax have composed, recorded and produced the soundtrack for forthcoming rowdy Belgian film ‘Belgica’, which was recently screened at this year’s prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

“We recorded the original music being played in the club, wrote the music, rehearsed and recorded live on set the tracks played by the bands – ranging from a live kraut techno band, White Virgins, bequiffed psychobilly trio They Live through to hardcore outfit Burning Phlegm (featuring Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera) whilst chanteuse Charlotte represents the other end of the spectrum with her neo soul pop,” explains the group.

The album has been some 12 months in the making and was recorded and mixed at Soulwax’s new Deewee studio in Ghent, Belgium.

You can listen to one of the album’s tracks, ‘How Long’, which comes from four-piece The Shitz.

Out February 26 via Play It Again Sam.
