Instagram has banned popular hashtag EDM from its photo-sharing social network.

According to the service, photos tagged with the hashtag have been used to “share content that violates our guidelines around nudity,” the social network explained via statement released to Time earlier today.

So there you go it’s not a huge conspiracy against electronic dance music, but simply a way to stop users – with obviously way too much time on their hands – sharing porn.

Personally, we’ve not witnessed any abuse of the hashtag, although we don’t exactly go around searching ‘#EDM’ on Instagram all that often, if at all.

Instagram has always banned hashtags that have been used to share content that’s against its terms of service, but this is the first time – to our knowledge – it’s removed such a ubiquitous term.
