For those of you who go to Mighty Mouse’s Nightfilm parties at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh you’ll have probably come across Nightfilm’s latest signee Le Visiteur.

But for those that don’t, and that includes us, we thought it was high time we got the Edinburgh-based producer to answer some of our questions about his latest release, which is out this week via Mighty Mouse’s Nightfilm label, how he came to meet Mighty Mouse and what he’s got planned for the next few months. HBF: Hello Le Visiteur, tell us where you’re from.

I’m based in the UK in the very beautiful city of Edinburgh.

HBF: And what’s the weather like?

Very pleasant today. Nice and sunny.

HBF: You’ve just released a new EP via Mighty Mouse’s Nightfilm label, how did you meet him?

I originally picked up Disco Circus Vol. 1 after I saw it in the Mixmag compilations of the year and it was tremendous, very much my taste in music. I then booked Mighty Mouse to play at a night I was running. The night didn’t last long due to major problems with the venue but we have been good friends ever since. We have very similar tastes in music and banter and are known to enjoy a pint or three.

HBF: And, tell us about the EP, what can we expect?

The EP features 3 tracks which are all a little different vibes wise. ‘Reason’ is a euphoric slice of groove fuelled big-room house all pushy synths and driving vocal loops. ‘Get down’ is a bass heavy peak time house track, it’s been a very big club track for me for ages so it’s nice to see it out and finally ‘Will She be there’ which features excellent Scottish vocalist Nick Patterson is a fun vocal house track, ideal for the summer pool parties.

HBF: If you could name three of your own tracks that best represent your music – which ones would you choose?

Of the tracks I have released so far Get Down, Time to Jack and Let it go.

HBF: What was the first record you bought?

Snap – The Power

HBF: What was the last record you bought?

Kendrick Lamar – To Pimp a butterfly was the last album I bought. He is an incredible talent and the last track I bought was Larry’s Garage by Juliet Sikora. Nice groovy house vibes.

HBF: What you’ve got planned for the rest of the year?

I have a bunch of releases planned through-out the year and we are working hard on putting together some bigger events for Nightfilm which I’m really looking forward to. I’m also planning on upping my DJing appearances as I’ve been very much concentrating on getting the music ready for the last few months.

HBF: If you could name one record you’d wish you’d made – what would it be and why?

Nuyorican Soul – Nuyorikan Soul. The talent on that album is ridiculous on vocals alone Jocelyn Brown, Roy Ayers, George Benson and India. It was one of the musical moments that made me want to be a DJ.

HBF: What secret weapon do you call upon if the dancefloor is beginning to empty out?

It’s a problem I try not to have ☺ But a track that’s been killing it for me for a while is Dino Lenny vs Hardrive – I wanna be like talking heads (Dino Lenny Dub).

HBF: If your studio was one fire, and you could go back in a save one thing – what would it be and why?

My external hard-drive!
