It’s possible that the Norwegian tropical house movement has been in front of us this entire time and we’ve simply been blinded by preconceived notions of Vikings and cold winters to notice. One thing is certain, Bearson and a mob of young producers out of Norway are pioneering a tropical movement to rival the temperate zones synonymous with these endless summer beats.

Bearson’s latest James Bay remix conjures images of sandy shores, lazy afternoons and is overflowing with tropical house feel-good rhythms. Emphasising the guitar in the acoustic original, Bearson adds a fair amount of reverb and lilting synth work to complement Bay’s vocals. It’s a strange sort of contrast to have such upbeat chords laid against such heartbreaking lyrics, but Bearson, and his fellow Norwegian trop house producers, seem to make a sport of it.
