London socialite and celebrity DJ are two titles that Sam Young aka Sam Roqwell isn’t too keen on, but Sam is on a mission to change perceptions with his productions on his own label Nod Factor.
Sam got his first break through his father Richard Young who was a celebrity party photographer.
After a chance meeting with part planner Jeannette Calliva he got his first gig at Chinawhites and the Mayfair club.
Sam has now been around the London DJ’ing scene for 10 years and has played for some of the world’s most famous celebrities including Donatella Versace, Elton John and Justin Timberlake.
The celebrity DJ tag doesn’t seem to bother Sam as he accepts that celebrities pay the most and he recognises that what he does is a business.
Over the last few years Sam has made the transition from DJ to producer with the launch of his own label Nod Factor and has seen him DJ across the world from Dubai to Ibiza
Sam is currently working XO Man, I Sancho, Chew Fu, Lee Mortimer and has a few remixes in the pipeline.
Our friends over a Raw Material have sent us over Sam’s latest song Roqology – fusing house rythms and tech-house beats for a big room sound.
It’s a showcases Sam’s talents in the studio and suggests that 2010 could be a massive year for him and with a brand new Nod Factor night launching soon Sam is going to be busy bee.
